St. Johns Medical College is one of Indias premier medical institutions. It was established in 1963 and is situated in Bangalore, India. The Department of Surgery is one of the oldest and most renowned in South India, with a highly experienced team. The St. Johns Medical College Hospital was conceived as the cradle of clinical learning for all our graduates and postgraduates affiliated to our institutes across the health fields of medicine, nursing, paraclinical and allied health. This professional education can only occur by providing learning experiences that are academically sound, holistic, comprehensive and professionally delivered by our physicians who are also faculty. The hospital began functioning on the 8th December, 1975, and has steadily grown from a few hundred beds and units to over 40 full-fledged departments providing care and treatment services, both specialty and super specialty. By 2018 we would have added 600 beds to continue to be one of the largest health care facilities under one roof in Bengaluru with 2000 bed strength.

It is primary to our existence and will always be driven by a patient centred approach by physicians who care. We are a tertiary-care, referral and teaching hospital that provides ethical and professional clinical care and treatment across all specialities ably supported by diagnostics services that includes laboratory-based, imaging and interventional facilities that remains affordable and accessible. With over 40 departments working as a team we can provide for most needs of our patients with in our own facility. Hospital facilities enable us to provide for all health-related emergencies including those required in mass casualty incidents and disaster situations. Outpatient consultations with cross references are feasible through our OPD schedules that extend from morning to late evenings on weekdays and those in need of diagnostic and therapeutic workups are enabled to be admitted through our inpatient facilities. Facilities for day-care are available that are restricted to targeted interventions and the care of chronic patients. Intensive care and Treatment units are spread across all ages of patients in need from newborn to adults, surgical to medical, and speciality to super specialities. Laboratory facilities are comprehensive and reasonably priced covering routine haematology, biochemistry including Immunology, genetics and molecular diagnostic requirements. Diagnostics available are imaging services under radiology and interventional diagnostics through the many super specialities existing on campus. Linkages to medico-social assistance and community outreach facilities exists for continuation of care and the pastoral department provides for spiritual needs of our patients. After-life care facilities include a Mortuary, embalming and autopsy services on campus. Hospital strives to cater to the needs of the public with special preference for the downtrodden and underprivileged byproviding excellent inpatient and outpatient medical facilities at a reasonable cost according to Christian values, irrespective of caste, creed and colour.
