Endocrinology is a branch of medicine that deals with endocrine system which controls the hormones of our body. Endocrinology is the study of hormones elaboration, secretion, and transportation, actions of hormones at the clinical, cellular and molecular levels. An endocrinologist is a doctor that treats disease related to hormones. It also entails the coordination of body’s system, including metabolism, respiration, excretion, movement, reproduction and sensory perception. An endocrinologist observes all kind of inclusion of development events and psychological behavioral activities of metabolism, growth and development, tissue function, sleep digestion, excretion and secretion, mood, stress, lactation, anxiety, movement, reproduction and other diseases which are caused by hormones.
The most common endocrine disease is diabetes. About 422 million people worldwide have diabetes and 1.5 million deaths are due to diabetes. Diabetes mainly increases the risk of many heart problems. This can include coronary artery disease with chest pain, heart attack, stroke and narrowing of arteries. Diabetes increases the high risk of heart disease or stroke, nerve damage, kidney damage, eye damage, foot damage, skin and mouth conditions, hearing impairment, depression, Alzheimer’s disease. A gestational diabetes can be dangerous for a baby and mother it it’s not treated properly and uncontrolled blood sugar levels during pregnancy. The most common complications of gestational diabetes in babies are excess growth, low blood sugar, type 2 diabetes later in life, death. It also affects mothers life the common complications are due to gestational diabetes are preeclampsia, macrosomia, shoulder dystocia, higher body fat, cesarean birth, surgical complications, infections, cardiovascular disease, obesity, metabolic syndrome etc. These diseases are just because of hormonal imbalances.
