Brief Profile:

Dr. V.P. Singh, a Consultant Neurosurgeon in India, completed his early education at St. Xavier’s School in Delhi. He earned his MBBS degree from the esteemed All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi, finishing his internship in 1982. Subsequently, he enrolled in a direct five-year Neurosurgery program at AIIMS, culminating in the award of his M.Ch. Neurosurgery degree in 1987. In 1989, he obtained the Diplomate of the National Board in Neurosurgery from the National Board of Examinations. Following this, he took on the role of Lecturer in Neurosurgery at King George’s Medical College (KGMC) in Lucknow. To enhance his expertise, he traveled to the United Kingdom, where he specialized in cerebrovascular surgery at Newcastle upon Tyne and radiosurgery at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield. Returning to India in December 1993, he joined AIIMS as a faculty member, eventually advancing to the position of Additional Professor and Unit Head of Neurosurgery. During his tenure, he established the Gamma Knife Unit and developed a program for epilepsy surgery, becoming a pioneer in both fields within the country and earning widespread recognition for his contributions. In 2002, he joined his former mentor, Prof. A.K. Banerji, at VIMHANS, a private neuro-specialty center in New Delhi. In 2007, both he and Prof. Banerji transitioned to Indraprastha Apollo Hospital in New Delhi, where he currently serves as a Senior Consultant Neurosurgeon and Academic Coordinator for Neurosurgery. Dr. V.P. Singh possesses extensive expertise in all facets of neurosurgery, including cranial, spinal, and peripheral nerve procedures, with particular interests in brain tumor surgery, cerebrovascular surgery, epilepsy surgery, and radiosurgery. He is an active academician and researcher, having authored over 70 published papers and book chapters. Additionally, he has mentored numerous students who have become established neurosurgeons across the nation. He has also participated in the executive committees of various national societies focused on epilepsy and cerebrovascular surgery.
