Brief Profile:

Dr. French (Prof.) Arvind Kumar is a thoracic (chest) surgeon specializing in the treatment of surgical diseases of the chest involving the lungs, pleura, mediastinum, trachea (trachea), esophagus (food pipe), chest wall and diaphragm, including chest trauma. . It performs the largest and most comprehensive thoracic (chest) surgery, thoracic oncosurgery and robotic thoracic surgery program, offering the full range of thoracic surgery services, including video assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) and chest fundus. Dr. Arvind Kumar is credited with performing the majority of VATS and robotic thoracic surgeries in India, initially at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, where he completed 36 years of commissioned service. He has one of the largest experiences in Asia in robotic thymectomy for myasthenia gravis and thymoma. Under the guidance of Prof. Arvind, Medanta's thoracic surgery team offers modern surgical treatment for lung cancer, esophageal cancer, thymoma, carcinoid tumors, posterior mediastinal tumors and tracheal tumors, and various non-tumor thoracic conditions such as bronchiectasis, aspergilloma, pneumothorax, etc. like all cases of chest trauma. The dedicated team specializes in providing an open, keyhole (VATS) approach as well as a robotic approach for various breast surgical conditions, including the removal of lung cancer and other breast cancers.

• Prof. (Dr). Arvind Kumar honoured with "Fakhr-e-Hind" (Pride of Nation) award in an International event "Jashn-e-Bharat" organised by Indian Heritage and Health Care Centre and Husanara Trust on 27th January 2019 at India International Centre, Delhi.
• Awarded the most prestigious "Dr. B.C. Roy Award" by the Government of India in the category "Eminent Medical Person of the year 2014.
• In 2006, he was again awarded the WHO Fellowship and underwent training in Management of Chest Trauma at Liverpool Hospital, Sydney (Australia).
• In 2006, he was awarded "Raj Nanda Fellowship" by the Raj Nanda Pulmonary Disease Research Trust in association with the British Thoracic Society for training in Thoracoscopic Surgery in UK for 6 months period.
