Brief Profile:
Dr. Anil Sharma moved to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi from the United Kingdom in 1994. He played a pivotal role in establishing the Department of Minimal Access Surgery, which was founded in 1996. Dr. Sharma has a particular focus on the surgical treatment of abdominal wall hernias, a field in which he has led numerous operative workshops, delivered extensive lectures worldwide, and authored several chapters in international publications. He is a dedicated academic and a prolific author, having published numerous significant scientific articles in international journals. Dr. Sharma also developed the Basic Medical Writing Course for Surgeons, a voluntary initiative aimed at equipping surgeons with skills in effective medical writing and presentation. As the President of the Asia Pacific Hernia Society, he envisioned and established Hernia Essentials, a comprehensive training course on hernia management, grounded in international guidelines.
