Dr. Amarender Singh Puri is the Vice Chairman of the Institute of Digestive and Hepatobiliary Sciences, Medanta Gurugram. Dr. Puri completed MBBS and then MD (Internal Medicine) from Christian Medical College, Ludhiana. He then worked for two years at CMC, Ludhiana (Panjab University) as a lecturer in medicine before joining DM (gastroenterology). After completing DM (Gastroenterology) from SGPGI, Lucknow in 1992, Dr. Puri joined GB Pant Hospital, Delhi as an Associate Professor of Gastroenterology and rose to the rank of Professor and Head of the Department of Medical Gastroenterology where he worked for over two decades. before joining Medanta. Dr. Puri has been honored with numerous awards including the Times Healthcare Award in 2017 and the Delhi Government State Meritorious Service Award in 2014, to name a few. He has published various publications, articles and chapters in national and international journals and magazines.
