He completed his MBBS degree from Stanley Medical College, Madras, followed by MD in Gene Medicine from Pune Military Medical College and DM in Nephrology from Chandigarh Medical and Research College.
He received prestigious awards such as Air Marshal Ajit Nath Award, Major General Amir Chand Award, Chief of Naval Staff, Best Officer Award and Vishisht Seva Medal for his outstanding services to the country and Nation Param Vishisht Seva Medal for his outstanding services to his country.
