Dr. Arun Garg serves as the head of stroke neurology at Medanta. His objective is to establish a "brain rescue" program aimed at the immediate and long-term care of stroke patients, with a focus on serving the entirety of North India, centered at Medanta. This initiative is the first of its kind in India and is designed to meet international healthcare standards. He has implemented a three-tiered system in North India, linking primary and secondary brain rescue centers to the hub hospital, Medanta-The Medicity in Gurgaon, through a network of ambulances and telemedicine services. Dr. Garg has been a pioneer in the application of thrombolysis for acute stroke treatment in this region. His dedication to stroke care has led him to collaborate with the University of Massachusetts Amherst (UMass) in the United States, focusing on stroke prevention, education, treatment, rehabilitation, and cutting-edge research. In addition to acute stroke management, he is deeply interested in post-stroke neuro-rehabilitation, which is supported by a multidisciplinary team at Medanta. Furthermore, he is the organizer and conceptual designer of the "Essentials of Acute Stroke Treatment (EAST)" training course, which is aimed at physicians and healthcare providers in primary and secondary hospitals. Dr. Garg has contributed to numerous national and international journals and is passionate about teaching. Previously, he was instrumental in developing neurology services at Max Hospital in Delhi.
